Skogforsk is working towards a bioeconomy by developing tools and methods to ensure better utilisation of forest products.

We are working to improve the wood flow by developing tools and methods that increase profitability for forest owners and industry. Our research involves improved measurement techniques, joint and standardised information about wood products, improved control and communications systems for forest machines, and better methods for valuation and wood contracts.

Forest energy is an almost carbon-neutral energy source and, from a climate perspective, has much less impact on the environment than fossil fuels. Skogforsk is developing efficient systems for forest energy, with the objective of increasing the role of forest in energy supply. The focus is on technology, methods and systems for logging residue, stumps, small-dimension trees, and the supply chain.
