Soil and water

How does forestry affect soil and water? How can we minimise damage to the ground caused by forest machines? These are some of the issues we are tackling in our research.

Skogforsk is conducting research aimed at developing methods and technology that will reduce the impact of forestry on surrounding soil and water. For example, we are working to improve the efficiency of logging, from environmental, technical and economic perspectives.

We are also examining the effects of returning ash to the soil and applying fertilisers, and looking at how clearcuts affect the environment.
