Funding

Skogforsk is funded mainly by the forestry sector and the Swedish government.

Fifty percent of Skogforsk's budget comes from the framework agreement drawn up between the government and the forestry sector. Each party contributes 50 percent to the funding of research covered by the agreement.

The forestry sector share of the framework agreement funding is made up of two parts: 25 percent from fixed participant fees and 75 percent from a variable research grant. The latter is levied as a fee of SEK 0.60 per cubic metre of harvested timber and pulpwood. The government contributes the remaining 50 percent of the framework agreement funding.

The remaining 50 percent of Skogforsk’s budget derives from contract work, grants from various funds, and income from informational activities.
