Planter's guide

Planter's guide is a "semi-translated" version of the decision-support system Plantval, aimed at helping the forester to choose the optimal plant for a given reforestation site. The aim of the English version Planter's guide is to demonstrate the content and calculation principles of the programme for an international audience.

Planter's guide is a decision support system for choice of reforestation material (seed orchard or provenance) in Sweden. You select tree species and indicate position of the regeneration site on a map. The programme ranks the available materials with respect to predicted yield at the site. The calculated index combines growth potential and expected survival.
