Skogforsk is developing tools and methods that increase profitability for the forest owner and mills through a more efficient wood supply chain.  The research concerns improved measurement technology, common and standardized information about raw materials, improved control and communication systems for forestry machines and improved methods for evaluation and wood contracts.

Information standard for standing trees

This project is developing a new standard for standing trees, together with stakeholders, the Swedish Forest Agency, system producers, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Standardization is carried out according to the Stanli (Swedish standard) method in collaboration with SIS.

Logging machine as an information platform

The project provides detailed description of the wood’s properties using harvester data and calculation models. Harvester data can give value-adding information about the forest to forest owners, logistics organizations and industrial customers.
