ETT - Modular System for Timber Haulage
In the ETT Modular System for Timber Haulage project, three completely new types of timber haulage vehicle are being tested. The rigs have greater payloads than conventional vehicles. The system is expected to reduce costs, cut carbon dioxide emissions and improve road safety, as more timber can be transported using fewer vehicles.
Currently, the maximum length of a conventional timber haulage vehicle in Sweden is 25.5 meters and the maximum weight is 60 tons. Raising these limits would enable us to transport more timber on each vehicle, thereby reducing fuel consumption and carbon dioxide emissions.
This is in line with the objectives set by the Commission on Oil Independence and also with objectives in many other countries to reduce environmental impact and improve road safety by reducing the number of vehicles.
